Staff - Camp Counselor Position

CGST is seeking female and male Camp Counselors for our summer performing arts camp.
CC's need to be FLEXIBLE, fun, responsible, patient, creative, self-motivated, and great leaders. CCs' duties are broken down into three areas: Theatre Production Work, Camp Counseling, and Teaching Theatre Potpourri and Wild Card (outdoor activities).
The CCs have many duties and responsibilities including:
The team of counselors is the production staff of the shows. The production staff, lead by the Technical Director, is a collaborative group with the many duties including: directing, stage managing, guest acting, light designing/board operating, sound designing, set designing/building, creating costumes and musically playing the show. All counselors who wanted to direct a show the last few years got to direct a show (or two!) Campers also have production duties.
Staying in the cabin with the students and supervising them at night. Camp Counselors are responsible for the campers 24 hours a day. CPR, First Aid, and Life Guard training and experience are ideal, though training is provided, if necessary. Life Guards are always sought, as are Guitarists. CCs also work closely with the Camp Director to develop activities for the campers. Activities might include hiking, tie dyeing, arts & crafts, swimming, softball, volleyball, etc.
Most CCs are instructors, as well. They teach Theatre Potpourri electives: stage combat, Suzuki, masks, tai chi, mime, improv, stand up comedy, Alexander, Grotowski, martial arts, acrobatics, theatre history, directing, speech, Linklater voice, Lessac, Skinner, yoga, playwriting, Shakespeare, tech, puppetry, etc. Teaching experience is a plus. Please indicate on your application which theatrical electives you are able to teach. They also teach Wild Card, which is a class that could include a hike, volleyball, jewelry making, nap time - you name it!
CCs must be positive role models, have great attitudes, and be flexible. Creativity, a love of theatre, and enthusiasm are vital. Camp experience is a plus. Theatrical experience is a must. BFA/BA students are ideal. CCs must be at least 19 years old, and must have completed at least one year of college. Camp vehicles can only be driven by CCs over age 21.
For the above, CCs receive:
A bed in the dorm.
Meals for the entire length of the contract.
A weekly salary:
$125-150 per week for non-drivers (under age 21).
$175-$200 per week for drivers (over age 21).
You must be available for the entire length of the contract, dates are posted on the job application.
Please note: The CCs stay in the dorms with the campers at night. There is limited free time and limited privacy.
